Itinerary:
Sunday – Get settled and welcome dinner, an intro to traditional regional Italian cuisine
Meet at Bologna airport or train station. Private transfer and accommodation in an apartment (described below), private and completely independent, situated in the heart of Bologna, 5 minutes walking from the two towers - the traditional symbol of Bologna and from the Theatre Communal and the Mercato di mezza (fresh produce market).
Welcome dinner for a first introduction to the traditional Emilia-Romagna cuisine.
Monday –Walking tour of Bologna center and dinner
In the morning you will meet your hosts for coffee to plan your week in Bologna. They will provide all the information and suggestions for your stay in Bologna, for exploring the city during your free time, telling you what the city can offer you.
In the late morning your hosts can also provide a pleasant walk through historic Bologna, pointing out our favorite places in this lovely, medieval town.
Lunch and afternoon on your own - free to explore the area - and SHOP if you so choose!
Join your hosts for dinner at their favorite trattoria/pizzeria.
Tuesday – Shopping at the food market to buy ingredients for the Italian cooking lesson and dinner
In the morning, you will walk to the central food market of Bologna, called "Mercato di mezzo". It is the oldest market, one of the few survived to the birth of the big stores - where the native families of Bologna still go everyday to buy their fresh food: fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, cheese.
It consists of a couple of ancient narrow streets stuffed with colorful, irresistible Italian food shops, stands, delis. Beautiful for the eye and for the taste!!
At the market you will buy the food for your Italian cooking class.
In the afternoon cooking lesson on family recipes. Dinner of what you have prepared together.

Wednesday – Parmigiano Reggiano --Parmesan cheese-- and Balsamic Vinegar factories visits
In the early morning you will leave to visit a Parmigiano Reggiano --parmesan cheese-- factory to see all the steps in the production of the "king of the cheeses", learn about how to recognize the real Parmigiano Reggiano and finish the visit with a tasting of the product at various ages.
Then you will proceed to a Balsamic Vinegar producer nearby for a visit. During the visit you see where the traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena is aged and it is explained how Balsamico is produced and how to recognize the real one. The visit ends with a tasting of the product at various ages, up to 25 years old.
After the visits, we have our lunch at a beautiful restaurant nearby, typical Italian and one of our favorite restaurants.
The lunch is based on dishes featuring Parmigiano Reggiano --Parmesan cheese--, Balsamic Vinegar of Modena and Prosciutto.
After lunch back to Bologna.
Afternoon and dinner free, after a busy day discovering the history and flavors of the region!


Thursday – Venezia, Firenze, Ravenna, Ferrara or Parma
In the early morning leave for Venezia, Firenze, Ravenna, Ferrara or Parma by train. Arrival and guided visit of the city with a local English speaking guide, who will show you the most beautiful places of the city and explain about the history.
Free time to stroll in the town, then back to Bologna by train.
Friday – Cooking lesson and farewell dinner
Enjoy free time in the morning on your own to shop and stroll the streets of Bologna In the afternoon, you will join your hosts for your final cooking lesson where you will prepare the recipes for your farewell dinner.
Saturday – Departure day
Take your time! When you are ready, your hosts will transport you to the Bologna airport or train station.

About your accommodations
The apartment, private and completely independent, is situated in the heart of Bologna, 5 minutes walking from the two towers, symbol of Bologna, and from the Teatro Comunale.
The apartment is situated in a historical building that dates in some parts from the 13th century. It is located on the third floor - no elevator - and is composed of a living room with a kitchen area, one bathroom with bathtub/shower and one bedroom.
The apartment is furnished with two twin extra long beds (39" x 80"), laundry machine, CD player, hairdryer, wireless internet connection, heat, refrigerator, sofa bed, table and bath linens.
Terms of Payment and Cancellation fees are as follow:
A 30% non-refundable deposit is payable at time of booking to confirm your participation in the course, as described above.
Remaining payment of 70% is due 75 days prior to arrival. If booking this course within 75 days of the course date, payment is due in full at time of booking.
Penalty for cancellation of booking is 50% of total payment, less the non-refundable deposit if the clients cancels the the booking more than 30 days prior to arrival. Penalty for cancellation is 100% penalty in the event of cancellation by the client less than 30 days prior to arrival.
