Discover the traditions and culture of Sardinia and experience unique treasures from the earth and sea. This area is so very rich in history and tradition and it is enhanced by the local merchants and farmers who love to share their stories with you, if only through their eyes and magnificent facial expressions.

Sardinia is a unique place where the traditions of sea and land combine in a triumph of irresistible natural flavors.

Your culinary journey on this island includes a stay in the beautiful ancient village of Orosei, Sardinia - a culinary point of reference for the whole of Sardinia, mentioned in major gastronomic guide books around the world. Hardly a season passes without severe judges enthusiastically lauding the range of dishes available to an increasingly more demanding clientele.

Cooking lesson with Maria

You will learn how to prepare the very freshest fish and specialities renowned throughout the area, such as spaghetti with scampi and lobster sauce; seafood risotto, fish ravioli, the traditional "malloreddu" with Sardinian sausage and '"makkarrones de busa" - a homemade pasta carefully prepared using methods handed down through the centuries.

Excursions will include visits to local wine producers, bakers, fisherman and farmers of Sardinia.

About Orosei - your location for this culinary adventure

We present you Orosei by its numbers:

  • 22 Kilometers of crystal clear water along its coastline
  • 5 flags for Italy's cleanest sea
  • 18 spanish-style churches
  • 6100 inhabitants
  • 650 local businesses based in Orosei
  • 1 "Museo dei Teatrini Giuseppe Guiso"
  • 3000 years of history and cultural traditions that are still applied today - all in the little coastal village of Orosei

Discover a land rich in history and culture. Here passing time has left in its wake the traces of a people whose distinctive features can still be found unaltered in the present-day population : an affection for the land and a proud respect for tradition.

Orosei House

Orosei, the city of a hundred churches, is set in a bright and fertile valley where sheep farming, agriculture and fishing are in perfect harmony. The magnificent Gulf of Orosei contains over 22 kilometres of natural beaches. Here you'll discover the charm of an uncontaminated Sardinia.

Su Barone beach, Cala Liberotto and Cala Ginepro with their beautiful white sand beaches are just 30 minutes away by boat as are the Gulf of Orosei's best known spots, Cala Luna, with the caves that once gave shelter to pirates, including the Bue Marino cave, the last home of the now extinct monk seal, and Cala Sisine and Cala Mariolu, which have been photographed and reproduced on the covers of thousands of holiday brochures.

All this awaits you in this corner of Sardinia on a strip of land strongly defended by its inhabitants against the uncontrolled encroachment of concrete and whose people continue to live according to the slow rhythm of passing seasons, maintaining an increasingly hard to achieve balance with nature.
